There's something insidious growing inside the trans community: transmedicalism. It's exclusionary, it's harmful, it's gatekeeping, and it needs to stop. So let's talk about what it is, why it's so bad, and where in the heck it came from (the answer may (not) surprise you).

How do you describe the indescribable, something so pervasive and yet so inscrutable? Join me as I tackle one of the biggest topics for many trans people, gender dysphoria. We're gonna talk about how there's no escaping it, and then see if I can put into words what it's like to live with. We're joined by therapist, author, and gender specialist Dr. Alex Iantaffi to discuss challenging the patriarchy, needing to see ourselves to find ourselves, and Sicilian bubble-butts!

Trans & Non-binary Perspectives on Gender, Sexuality, and the Embodiment of the Masculine and Feminine Panelists will discuss their personal journeys around gender and sexuality, both internally and how they present to the world, their experience with masculine and feminine energies (impact on life, work, relationships), and what they experience as the beauty and joy, as well as the sorrow and pain of being trans, non-binary, or any other gender.

We also talk about inbetweeness and the impacts of not fitting into boxes and having our identities erased and invisibilised. (This podcast episode was recorded in March 2022).

In episode 87 we discuss Intersectional Identity Studies with Alex Iantaffi (they/he/lui).

Raising All Voices: Creating and Facilitating Gender Inclusive Spaces with featured guest Alex Iantaffi (they/he/lui) This workshop will provide an opportunity for participants to explore and understand gender from individual, historical, cultural and social perspectives.

Our binary view of the world is often established when we are very young, frequently conveyed through a series of oppositions: yes or no, up or down, good or bad. As we grow older, though, we come to understand that life is less a matter of yes/no and more about yes...and.
