Our binary view of the world is often established when we are very young, frequently conveyed through a series of oppositions: yes or no, up or down, good or bad. As we grow older, though, we come to understand that life is less a matter of yes/no and more about yes...and. Today, the term “non-binary” is usually used to discuss gender, but Dr. Alex Iantaffi, in Life Isn’t Binary, explores how non-binary thinking can lead not only to greater understanding of our own gender identity but also of sexuality, bodies, relationships, emotions, and thought.
