areas of specialty

Over the past twenty years, my research and writing on Deafness, disability, HIV, gender, sexuality, relationships and trauma have been collected in peer-reviewed journals, such as the International Journal of Sexual Health and AIDS Education and Prevention, as well as anthologies published by Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, and W.W. Norton & Company. As an independent researcher and principal investigator with over a decade of clinical experience, I have been funded by the United States National Institute of Health, organized numerous community projects, including zines, handbooks, and guides, and edited academic journals. I am a certified sex therapist and member of the American Association of Sexuality Educators Counselors & Therapists (AASECT), a clinical member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), an At-Large Board member of the Minnesota Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and a clinical fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), as well as chair-elect of the AAMFT Queer and Trans Advocacy Network.

Examples of my work in these areas can be seen in my CV as well as the pages discussing my books, contributed chapters, podcast, and examples of previous speaking engagements.
